MILK Cave
Named for the purpose it served prior to the advent of modern refrigeration!
You can see how ropes, and in a child's case, a green garden's water hose tied precariously around an Osage trunk, was used to descend into the subterranean canyon. A few steps from the pit, the cool flowing water was perfect for chilling fresh milk, so farmer's stored it there in the cave's naturally cool cave drainage system.
Bob Roth, Christopher Morris and I explored a portion of this cave in 2021.
