Granny Scott's Cave
Known and explored by members of the Walter Scott family for many years, the land is currently owned by Brian Scott of California. Annually, he travels to Kentucky to visit relatives and takes time to explore this cave's 2ft x 6ft opening, being a 25ft shaft, followed by a short crawl leading to a large room with several descents. Other Scott family members explored these passages in the early 1900s, as evidenced by their names and dates carved into the walls.
As a teenager, Meade County's Judge Executive 2021-2022 Leslie Stith was bitten on the hand by a copperhead as he performed that short crawl leading back to the opening shaft. That should serve as a warning to others about the copperhead population that continues along this entire ridgeline.
in 2021, myself and Sean Vanderhoff located the entrance, after a failed attempt by myself, Bob Roth and Christopher Morris (we three were given poor GPS coordinates on that trip). Now, waiting to hear from Brian Scott to join him on a future visit.
